From the deserts of Egypt
to a life in Zanzibar.
Zanzibar Gate was founded by Mahmoud, who arrived in Zanzibar for his honeymoon in 2020 — and made it home. Behind him were a decade of expedition work in Egypt's deserts and years of slow travel across the world; before founding the company, he welcomed more than 800 travelers to Tanzania and East Africa as a ground operator for international agencies, and worked as a facilitator between foreign investors and the government of Zanzibar.
He built this company while raising his family on the island — watching his daughter grow up between its beaches and its streets. It's why safety, privacy, and detail are not policies at Zanzibar Gate. They're personal.
